Throw out your antidepressants

For a number of years now, I have been practicing a morning routine of mindfulness meditation. A few unsuccessful attempts at first but after a mindfulness training by Siri Chandler, I started to understand the power of starting the day with mindfulness. For me, the practice of a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course that featured Mark Williams & Danny Penman's book: "Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World", really set me on the right track.   

It wasn't until Siri recommended I tried the Headspace app on my phone that I really got hooked. Andy Puddicombe, Sport Scientist-turned-Buddhist-monk, finds the right tone for my linking, His approach to mindfulness gives me the right dose of no-nonsense, straight forward mindfulness training I am looking for. After researching some articles, I sent some of the findings to a general practitioner friend of mine. Knowing that he is the most rational human being on earth - at least according to me - he took the findings of the study to heart and now prescribes a Headspace as opposed to anti-depressants to his patients. So if you are looking for an edge to start your day with, find what mindfulness practice works for you. Build it into your systems or morning routine and you will surely find that it will yield great results in the rest of your happy, calm, mindful day!
